Meet the Nexus Board of Advisors
Margaret is a professional development consultant, coach and public speaker with more than 15 years of Fortune 500 management experience and over 10 years of consulting experience. She specializes in executive and leadership presence, personal branding, and communications. Margaret works with a variety of clients ranging from rising stars and newly promoted leaders to Fortune 500 companies. Prior to launching her business, Margaret was an advertising and process improvement executive at Staples, Inc., a retailer located in Framingham, Massachusetts. During her time there she managed and led high performing teams that consistently delivered results. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Boston University. She received her certifications from the Association of Image Consultants International, the London Image Institute, the Institute of Image Communications in New York, and the Emily Post Institute in Vermont. She received her Reach Personal Brand Strategist Certification from Reach Communications Consulting.

Sue considers herself “the right-hand” to executives, entrepreneurs and big thinkers. Her talents and interests focus on organizing and bringing others’ ideas to light, executing their visions and finding or creating solutions to business and personal management issues. Her career has been centered around using strategic thinking and financial planning and analysis to guide decision-making for start-up businesses, nonprofit organizations, government policy-makers and individuals. As a founding member of the Women in Leadership Nexus, she hopes that the future of work will be defined by great leaders through cultures of integrity, adaptability, innovation, and true promotion of work/life balance. In addition to her professional work experience, Sue achieved a dual bachelor’s degree in psychology and communications from the University of Rhode Island and her MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Above all, she is her husband’s best friend and, together, they are the loving parents of their sweet baby boy.

Darlene is the Senior Director of Development & Grants at Rhode Island Quality Institute. In addition to managing the grant acquisition program, she is currently leading the Rhode Island Practice Transformation Network, which is part of a CMS Innovation Center model known as the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI). Her team serves over 1,500 primary and specialty care clinicians in the state helping them to increase care quality and prepare for payment reform. Darlene has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare field performing roles in technology, quality improvement, and information privacy. Darlene earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems, graduating summa cum laude from Roger Williams University and a master’s of business administration (MBA) with an organizational leadership concentration from Johnson & Wales University. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).

Patrice Jean Philippe
Patrice is currently the Development Director for the Southern New England Heart Walk though the American Heart Association. She partners with local executives and community leaders to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. She has over 12 years of bank experience prior to entering the non-profit world. She is also a Pageant Coach and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Patrice earned her Master of Business Administration degree in Global Leadership and Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communication from Johnson & Wales University. She is also a proud alumnus of the 2018 Xi II Class Leadership Rhode Island (aka G.O.A.T. greatest of all time).

Deb is currently the Director of Business Readiness Champion at Carousel Industries. Deb's career has spanned 45 years in the telecommunication industry. Working in major corporations, AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya for 30 years, Deb worked in various managerial positions and work locations. She’s worked the last 15 years at Carousel Industries. Deb’s experience working with people and her company knowledge has led to the current position as Director of Business Readiness, focusing on Carousel Industries’ employees to ensure all are prepared and ready for organizational change, to include changes in process, work assignments and tools. Deb works as a liaison between workforce and leadership to help identify and champion employees’ concerns and challenges. Deb is a graduate of Providence College and attended Bryant University, and has participated in many leadership training sessions over her career.

Founder/CEO, Women in Leadership Nexus
Carrie is committed to affecting change. Whether that means helping a company originate and execute a best-of-breed marketing and branding strategy, leading a seminar on redefining leadership, or creating safe space for female trailblazers to come together, she is fueled by desire to take action. Carrie is the Founder and CEO of the Women in Leadership Nexus, a professional leadership association empowering women to reach an amplified level of leadership. She is also the Vice President of Marketing of Trilix, an application development and systems integration company. Carrie was named the 2019 "Woman to Watch" in the Providence Business News' Professional Services category; a 2019 winner on the RI Inno 50 On Fire List; a 2017 Rhode Island “40 Under 40” honoree and a 2016 Rhode Island Tech10 Winner. She received her Bachelor's Degree in English and Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. In 2017 she received her Women in Leadership professional certificate from Cornell University. Carrie is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts Southeastern New England and a member of the Tech Collective's Women in Technology Committee.
