Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Life

Ahh spring is finally here! Rainy days made flowers bloom, temperatures are heating up, and days are longer and brighter. I don’t know about you, but I find all this warmth and change rejuvenating and it makes me want to clean out and simplify my life for a fresh start.

Of course, spring is associated with spring cleaning your home, but what about “spring cleaning” your life?

So in the spirit of spring, here are some things I’ve done this flower season to organize and balance my life:

Get Rid of Clutter. It’s a fact; we have too much clutter in our lives, and it’s hurting our focus and productivity. So, if you haven’t used it or worn it in the past year—GET RID OF IT! You may think you can’t part with something, but once it’s gone, you’ll feel lighter.

Make Your Bed. I may sound like your mom, but you should really make your bed every day. It’s good for your mind and your soul. It makes your bedroom look more organized and you will feel more relaxed getting into a made bed each night.

Organize Your Closet. It’s a known fact: women have A LOT of cloths. We have clothes for work, clothes for exercising, clothes for date night, girls’ night, plane rides, lounging in front the TV, and the list goes on. Instead of having everything shoved in closets and drawers with no order, spring is a good time to bring order to the messy wardrobes we’ve been collecting all these years.

Clean Out Your Desk. For those of you like me who work in a home office and a corporate office, you can relate to having two messy desks full of unneeded clutter. But, it’s just not a healthy environment to work in each day. A clean desk is a clean mind.

Delete Old Emails. Many of us spend most our work days staring at emails for hours and hours. It’s a necessary and efficient form of communication, but the amount of emails we receive can be daunting. So, if you have finished that project, or no longer need that particular email communication, file it away in a folder or DELETE it. You no longer need to stare at it; it’s digital clutter and you don’t need it.

Make a To Do List. Ok, you have cleaned out your life a bit—now what? If you are anything like me, you will now make lists because you feel revived and ready to take on the world! What do you want to conquer? Now, your mind is clear and focused, so the world is your oyster.
